Education and training
The Center for Emerging and Infectious Diseases offers virtual and in-person seminars to advance knowledge among scientists, clinicians, educators and the public to support improved participation in vaccine clinical trials and to accelerate introduction of vaccines for disease prevention. The center provides tailored level-appropriate training in vaccine and emerging infectious diseases for students, staff scientists, residents, post-graduate fellows and faculty.
Medical students participate in hands-on training during medical school or take specific electives or research concentrations related to their interest in infectious disease and global health. These experiences are coordinated with faculty to teach and provide clinical care at nationally-renowned health care systems like the Henry Ford Health System, the Detroit Medical Center and others.
